Following PNoy's death, is Kris Aquino running for president?

Kris Aquino was a top trending topic on Thursday night as rumors for her to run in 2022 elections circulated online.

Following the death of former President Benigno Aquino III, Kris is now being predicted to step up and continue her family's political legacy. It can be recalled that PNoy sought the Presidency with a huge public support following the death of his mother, former President Cory Aquino in 2009.

Now, many netizens are hinting for Kris to follow the steps of her late brother and seek higher office in the 2022 elections. On Twitter, Mara Cepeda asked netizens on how PNoy's death will impact local politics.

"Noynoy Aquino was propelled to the presidency after the death of his mother, democracy icon Cory Aquino. 3 year after his father Ninoy Aquino was assassinated in 1983, a dictator was ousted. How will PNoy's death impact the opposition this time?"

Some netizens answered,"Hoping Kris Aquino runs for office."

A critic of the Liberal Party was also quick to notice how Kris entering politics would just be repeating history.

Another tweet that gained reactions was also a question that posted if Kris will be running for President.

Aside from tweets, there are also polls asking netizens if they would be willing to give support to Kris if she decided to seek a national seat.

Earlier, Kris made a tell-all video explaining her stand and experiences under the Duterte administration. She revealed she was let go by ABS-CBN because the station didn't want to associate with the Aquinos for the time being. She, however, clarified that she has no bad grudges or issues with President Rodrigo Duterte and his supporters.

Kris Aquino receives first COVID-19 vaccine jab

The Queen of All Media Kris Aquino has now received her first COVID-19 vaccine dose, she disclosed to fans yesterday, June 1.

Aquino announced her vaccination through an Instagram post showing her and her son Bimby together with Batangas Vice Gov. Mark Leviste and lawyer Gideon Peña.

“[Gideoon and I] have both gotten our first doses of our vaccine,” she said.

Aquino, who battles an autoimmune disease, noted that she got the AstraZeneca vaccine “as the safest option” upon advice by her doctors.

“But we are still masked and we’re all taking the necessary precautions (new cases reported today are still 5,177),” Aquino also shared.

She then thanked Leviste for visiting her at her home in Bonifacio Global City in Taguig, where they shared a meal with Peña and Bimby.

“[Thank] you for the visit & the food vice gov @markleviste, although [I] believe you should get your vaccine soonest because you’re not just protecting yourself, you must get your vaccine for the safety of your constituents, friends, family, and loved ones. Agree?” Aquino said.

Leviste then heeded Aquino’s advice, saying in the comments section: “Agree, Madame. Thanks!”

In March last year, Aquino turned down the romantic proposal of Leviste, who commented in one of her Instagram posts, “I choose you.”

Aquino, who replied “No offense, but no thank you,” explained that “it’s not healthy to entertain someone when you know in your heart that feelings for another haven’t been totally extinguished.”

However, netizens began speculating that the two were indeed dating in late February, after Aquino and Leviste were allegedly spotted eating out.

Aquino was quick to shut down the rumors by posting on her Instagram on March 1 that she is “single, not dating, peaceful, trying to get healthier.”
